When someone tells you they had their car ceramic coated, there is usually no way to verify it. No receipt stapled to the glovebox, no paper trail, and no way for a future buyer to confirm that the protection actually exists.
That is the norm in this industry, and it is a problem we decided to solve.
At Bryan Car Care, every Protection Plan we install gets registered on CARFAX. This means the ceramic coating shows up as a documented service event on the vehicle's history report, right alongside oil changes, brake replacements, and other maintenance records. It is a permanent, verifiable entry that stays with the vehicle for its entire life.
We are the only detailer in the Coeur d'Alene, Spokane, and North Idaho area that does this. Here is why it matters and what it means for you as a vehicle owner.
What Does CARFAX Registration Actually Mean for Ceramic Coating?
CARFAX is the most widely recognized vehicle history reporting service in the country. When a dealership, mechanic, or qualified service provider performs work on a vehicle, that service event can be logged in the CARFAX database. Potential buyers, dealerships, and insurance companies all reference CARFAX reports during transactions.
When we register your Protection Plan on CARFAX, the entry includes the date of service, the type of protection applied, and the provider. This record cannot be removed or altered. It becomes part of your vehicle's permanent history.
For a buyer pulling a CARFAX report during a pre-purchase inspection, seeing a professionally applied ceramic coating listed by a verified provider communicates something important. It tells them the previous owner invested in the vehicle and that the paintwork has been professionally maintained.
How Does CARFAX Registration Affect Resale Value?
Documented maintenance has always helped at resale. Buyers pay more for vehicles with complete service records because documentation reduces uncertainty. A car with a stack of receipts for every oil change, tire rotation, and brake service will always sell for more than an identical car with no records.
Ceramic coating registration works the same way. When a buyer sees that your vehicle has a professionally applied Protection Plan logged on CARFAX, it becomes a tangible selling point rather than a verbal claim. You are not asking anyone to take your word for it. The third-party record speaks for itself.
The resale impact is most significant for private-party sales, where trust between buyer and seller is the biggest factor in negotiations. A CARFAX report showing professional paint protection gives the buyer confidence that the vehicle has been cared for at a level above average.
That confidence translates directly to a higher sale price and a faster sale.
What Is a Transferable Warranty and Why Does It Add Value?
Our 5-Year Flagship Protection includes a transferable warranty certificate. This means the remaining warranty coverage follows the vehicle if you sell it. The new owner inherits the protection and the warranty, not just the coating itself.
This is a meaningful financial benefit at resale. A vehicle with two or three years of remaining ceramic coating warranty is worth more than a vehicle without any protection. The buyer is getting documented, warranted paint protection at no additional cost to them. That is a real line item they can factor into their purchase decision.
The transferable warranty also signals that the coating was applied by a professional who stands behind the work. Fly-by-night operations do not offer transferable warranties because they do not plan to be around long enough to honor them.
Our 3-Year Premium Protection also includes CARFAX registration and a digital inspection report with photos. Both plans create a verifiable paper trail that protects your investment.
Why Don't Other Detailers Register on CARFAX?
There are a few reasons, and none of them are good for the consumer.
First, CARFAX registration requires the service provider to be a verified partner. Not every detailer meets the criteria or is willing to go through the process of becoming one. It takes credibility, consistency, and a track record of professional service.
Second, registration creates accountability. Once a service event is on CARFAX, the provider's name is permanently attached to it. If the work is subpar, that record points directly back to the business. Shops that are not confident in their work tend to avoid creating permanent records of it.
Third, many detailers simply do not think about the customer's long-term value. They apply the coating, collect payment, and move on. The idea of documenting the service on a third-party platform for the customer's benefit is not part of their business model.
At Bryan Car Care, documentation is central to how we operate. Every vehicle that leaves our shop with a Protection Plan has a CARFAX entry, a digital inspection report with before-and-after photos, and for the Flagship plan, a transferable warranty certificate. This is what professional paint protection should look like.
Does CARFAX Registration Cost Extra?
No. CARFAX registration is included in every Protection Plan at Bryan Car Care at no additional cost. It is part of the standard process for both the 5-Year Flagship Protection and the 3-Year Premium Protection. We consider it a baseline requirement, not a premium add-on.
The digital inspection report and warranty documentation are also included. Every client receives the full documentation package as part of their Protection Plan investment.
What If I Already Have a Ceramic Coating Without CARFAX Registration?
If your vehicle was coated somewhere else without CARFAX documentation, that protection still exists on your paint. But you will not have the verifiable third-party record to prove it at resale.
This is one of those things that only becomes a pain point when you go to sell the car and realize you have no way to substantiate the claim.
If you are planning to sell in the future and want documented protection on CARFAX, the next coating application is the time to do it right. We are happy to assess your current paint condition and recommend the best path forward.
